Boise's Premiere
Blues Band!

Phil, Barney, Ken, Bud, and Mike...

Each member of the Hoochie Coochie Men has played separately with many famous artists including Chuck Berry, Gladys Knight, the Four Tops, Junior Walker and the All Stars, Delbert McClinton, James Cotton, Luther "Guitar Jumor" Johnson, Tracy Nelson, and Vicki Carr.

Barney Southard--Drums, Vocals

Barney, a native of Boise, Idaho, has been playing set around the Treasure Valley for 25 years with such groups as the Jaywalkers, The Chasers, and other popular groups. He is master of fatback funk, Chicago Blues, Zydeco 2nd line, reggae, and soul music. He is also one of the group's premier song stylists with his soaring baritone to 2nd alto range. Barney's no dinosaur when it comes to copping one intense groove. His energy and talents contribute greatly to the Hoochie Coochie Men.

Ken Harris--Keyboards, B-3 Organ, Accordian, Vocals

Ken is the group catalyst on stage. He is a master of the Hammond B-3 and is a general "Wild Man from Borneo" with his zany stage antics. Ken hails from Portland, Oregon, but spent most of his childhood and teen years in Boise. Having spent twenty two years in Boston, Ken had the opportunity to play with R&B greats James Cotton, Chuck Berry, Junior Walker and others. Ken’s great keyboards, vocals, harp, and accordion (watch out!) really add a personal uniqueness to the band.

Phil Garonzik--Sax, Clarinet, Flute, Vocals

Phil is the group sax player. He also doubles on flute, clarinet, and vocals. A born Texan, Phil calls Dallas home, and has had years of experience with groups such as Gladys Knight, The O’Jays, The Four Freshman, Delbert McClinton, and many others. Phil adds the icing on the cake with his expert solo work in the myriad of styles that the Hoochie Coochie Men are known for.

Mike Trail -- Blues Guitar, Vocals

Mike Trail is arguably the best Blues guitarist in the Boise area. Mike has spent years honing his craft, having worked previously with the Jaywalkers and other popular Boise bands. Mike has also worked with Coco Montoya, Pinetop Perkins, and other blues greats. Mike’s searing leads and tasteful rhythm playing are truly the heart and soul of the band instrumentally. Mike is also an unbelievable singer.

Bud Gudmundsen -- Bass Guitar, Vocals

With his sultry vocals and steady bass rhythms, Bud is an integral member of the Hoochie Coochie Men. He's performed with a variety of bands in the Boise area, including Chausee Swan, Chapter Three, the Spheres, and was a member of the Black Angus house band, Elias. Bud's talent extends to songwriting as well. His song,"Jack Daniels" was recorded by Winewood. Bud has also performed with members of Stan Kenton's band.
